Deck and Tile Joint Caulking for Long-Lasting Pool Protection
Has the caulk or grout between the top of your pool tiles and below your pool deck failed? Has the grout cracked, separated, or crumbled, or has the original caulk split, separated, or dried out, leaving ugly gaps? All caulks end up failing over time due to heat, chemicals, and general wear and tear from the pool and deck shifting. Grout or cement placed in between the deck joint typically fails faster and is more noticeable because large pieces can fall out, again due to the pool and deck shifting in opposite directions. When you re-grout broken areas, they will just continue to crack and fall out again.
For a proper repair, you need to use the proper products for the job. In this case, it would be a polysulfide or polyurethane caulk. These caulks are designed to be used with concrete and are non-sag, non-flowing sealing compounds. These sealants are designed for vertical as well as submerged applications, which we have both with pools. These caulks cure to a firm, flexible, tear-resistant rubber. These joint sealants will protect from concrete movement and water intrusion while maintaining the aesthetic look of your pool.
